HARD CORE

So I think I reached hard core status today for 2 reasons

1) I GOT A RUNNING RELATED BLISTER!!! Its nothing big, but it's a start. It's not bloody or gorey or anything. Def not worthy of a picture. Also I might add that I didn't wear running socks. But either way.....I'm Hard Core!

2)I got up at 6 am to do my 15 mile run. Up till this point, I hadn't taken the plunge on sacrificing my sleep to get up early and run. I just knew I wasn't that hard core...and I rather run alone than sacrifice a few hours of sleep. But today I did it. I bailed on going bar hopping last night, eventhough I promised my classmates I would go. And I got up at 6am and met up with a running group to do my 15 mile run. IT WAS EXCELLENT! It's the first time I did any training runs with someone...and boy have I been missing out. We did the first 2 miles Galloway style..then ditched the group and just ran the next 13. It took us 2:30:15. My friend dropped back so I ended up finishing with her Jamaican husband. We stuck it out together! But all in all..the run was great and I think the Galloway style for the first 2 miles helped me take my heart rate up slowly. At one point I joked around about just running a whole marathon today!! Also I dressed properly this time. It was about 60 when we started and 70 when we finished. I"M SO PUMPED! It's my furthest distance yet!!!! YAY!!!

So yes. I'm hard core....no not porn....running. I believe I will be getting up at 6 am again next weekend to run with these great people. Most definitely better than doing it alone. :)

YEah for 15! That's a really fast time too. Running in the morning is the best feeling. I also agree that running long runs (15+) are best with a pal.

Congrats on the 15. Bailing on bar hopping to run? Watch out, it's a slippery slope.

Awesome run! I knew I was hardcore when I lost a toenail due to running . . . gross, but I was sort of proud of it in a very twisted sort of way. Thank goodness it hasn't happened again!

That is awesome! Great great job. And yes you have been missing out, I always run with other people it's so much more fun! And that's too funny you are from Avon. It was my first time in the part of town. Very nice. It was about 30 out, not too bad, although the second loop the wind really kicked in.

Wow! 15 miles is a lot. How long did it take you to get up to that?

Wait till you get your first black toenail. You thought the big calf wasn't sexy. Well black toes aren't hot.

I'm jealous of the temps though. Nice job on the 15.

That's why I like running in the races because I usually train solo, so having so many people around is just such a treat.

As for the blister...I am sure there will be many more to come. I have the yuckiest looking feet and a black toe nail right now and a blister on the same foot...hmmm...maybe I should take a picture...: )

Hi Christine

You are definitely hard core and I am talking the running kind:-) When you are willing to sacrifice a party night at your age, there is no doubt you are serious about this running thing and I think the sky is the limit for you.

Best of luck with your training and I'm looking forward to seeing you take down the 26.2.

I'd definitely love to run with you all! I need some help pushing myself through the 6-7 mile mark! Let me know when/where you run, and I will be there!

It would be good to swim with someone too...I think I am going to attempt a tri with one of my friends, and I need work on that too! : )

PS Awesome job on 15 miles! I'm envious!!

Fabalous 15 miles that was excellent, and sacrificing sleep and a night at the bar well that is just hard core!

The group can be so helpful with out a doubt. Especially on 2 plus hours, I get bored in the car for 2+ hrs by myself, LOL!

First let me say that the Bi will be great, I can not comment on what to wear, but having a wife I can relate to your delima. Getting a blister, wow I have not even got one of those yet. The fifteen miles on an early morning run is great. Keep up the great work and you will be setting a PR on the marathon in no time.
