Carpe Diem

Sieze the day....

So I was thinking. After I finish my first marathon (If i finish my first marathon..)...haha. I was thinking about getting a "carpe diem" tattoo on my foot. Sieze the day....thats pretty much me in a nutshell. I have woken up days and said to myself and others "You have once chance to live this day.....one chance to live February 13th, 2008, How are YOU going to live it?" My husband yelled at me and told me not to think that way...but it's true. You got one shot to live this day...so if it starts bad...are you going to let that affect the way you live the rest of your day? You still have a shot at making the last half good! Life is too short...I've seen too many people die young. I lost one of my good friends to cancer last year (he was 22) and he made the MOST out of the last few months of his life. www.jeffsballparktour.com check it out. We never know when we are going to go....so make everyday count. Live it the way you want to. Run an fing marathon. Sieze the day.

I figure that tattoo would be a symbolism of putting my mind towards something and achieving it. I could look back on it after I'm 200 lbs after having a baby and think "wow...I trained for a marathon when I was putting in 17 hr days in grad school...I can get my butt back in shape!" Also it can be reflective on any future accomplishments, races, etc I achieve. It's not limited to running, but I want it to remind me of running. Give me your thoughts! haha.

On the flip side, still cruddy. Managing to get my miles in...but it ain't easy. Carpe Diem ya'll :)

Great outlook, Christine!

So many people merely 'exist,' rather than 'LIVE!' (in caps, with an exclamation point!)

Grab life by the neck and hang on for all its worth. Its worth a lot.

This post is great, just what I needed to read today after a so so run this morning and piles of work on my desk.

As for the tattoo, go for it girl! I am not personally into tattoos but I understand why people do want, and get them.

Great post! Totally inspiring.
I was thinking of a tat when I reach a couple of goals to remind me what I have done, and I could do more.
I think it would be a nice tat with real meaning to you. Umm, just try not to get that flower vase on there, so much detail would hurt..hehehe :-)

Hi Christine

I truly do believe you have to live every day like it might be your last. I know it sounds a little bit morbid, but life is such a precious gift. now, in terms of your running you absolutely have to do a marathon. No more of this half stuff. I know you can do it from reading your blog and I promise you that it will change you. i don't know how many times that I have thought "I am a marathoner and I know I can get through this!".

Best of luck.

I say go for it. I've been trying to think of a "Running-type" tattoo, but I haven't thought of one yet.

After my marathon I really wanted to get a 26.2 tatoo . . . I'm a wuss though so I settled for a sticker for my car!

It would make for a cool tatoo. But I would think the foot would hurt bad getting it done there.

Once you cross over the bridge of doing your first marathon, there's no turning back. You can either become crazy and get really fast and do the boston thing or do ultras.

Good luck either way

I actually think I needed to hear something like that today. Thanks!

Totally do it!!! I'd get more tats (I only have 1 that is hidden) but the Mr is too anti LOL!

I think if you are going to get a tattoo there should be some meaning behind it and I think you found a perfect tat for yourself. I think it would look really nice too. Oh ya, you will complete a marathon. Awesome post! Good luck with school.

I try to think this same way. I actually got a tattoo on my wrist to remind me of how I live my life. It is "The Choices We Choose". Basically we make our own fate and destiny by the choices we make. If things are crappy make the choice to fix it, even if it is just looking it another way. On tough days it really does help me to get my mind back on the right track.

I couldn't agree more. And if you don't look at the day that way, and don't live your life like that, you are sure to have regrets!
Thanks to this post, I WILL find time for a run today!

Great idea for the tat. Heard the foot hurts, but if I ever get another, that's where I want it too.

Love the 'carpe diem' idea.

I'm set on getting a tat for the same reasons in the next year or so, I just have to figure out what it'll be.

Can't wait to see it once you get it!
