Biggest Loser...

Well I went for a run/walk yesterday. I had made the goal of not walking at all....but I don't think I'm quite ready for that yet (I had a pretty traumatic delivery..wont go into details). As I began shuffling my feet, one in front of the other, I felt soooo heavy. I know I'm carrying around a few extra lbs..(ok more than a few)....but really??? All I could think about was the Biggest Loser contestants. You see them the first time they try and get on a treadmill and you can almost feel their pain. You can hear how hard they are breathing...and it's not because they are running a sub 8 minute mile....no way jose....even just walking they are breathing hard. You can see the look of anguish on their face as they put one foot in front of the other...you can almost feel how heavy they are just watching them. That's exactly how I felt yesterday.....I felt like I wasn't moving very fast...but at the same time...I was zonked! I pictured myself wearing a bright pink Biggest Loser t-shirt and could even hear someone in the distance telling me to pick up the pace....

I sure hope I feel different in a few weeks. I understand it took 9.5 months to get my body this way...so it's going to take a bit of time to get it back. Right now I weigh 148 lbs....I hope to be 140 by the time I go to work May 17th! Time to stop whining and make it happen...1..2...3.. go!

I randomly found your blog and can totally relate! I had a little girl on March 11 (via c-section, she was breech) and am so frustrated by the loss of endurance. I used to run marathons and now I can barely run a mile! We'll get back there in time. Congrats, he's adorable.

It'll come off don't worry...you are heading in the right direction. That's crazy that you have to go back to work so soon...we get a year off for maternity leave in Canada...a year is a long time...one forgets how to do their job when they return.

Don't be so hard on yourself; it really does take time to regain your former fitness level and to lose the pounds. And, it seems those last few pounds are the most stubborn!

However, over time, the running does get easier and the weight will come off (whether your body is the same as it was pre-pregnancy kinda depends on the individual). I started running 4 weeks after Norah was born and was running 12+ min/miles, but now I am back to running 9-9:30 min/miles. And I too had a stubborn 5 lbs lingering, but I lost that plus a little more.

Be patient with yourself, and if you're nursing, don't cut too many calories just to lose the weight -- you need those extra calories for that!

It took me a good 3 months to really start losing the weight, but I had it all off in 5 months ( but I was marathon training), however I am now about 4-5 lbs smaller than I was pre baby! It will come off, I promise!

TOTALLY! I'm still pregnant, and I had the exact same Biggest Loser moment. No wonder they don't work out. It's HARD carrying around extra weight.

I am sooooo in the same boat as you re: the traumatic delivery. I won't go into details either, but I have plenty I could share if you wanna vent to another 'injured' mama. It does get better over time, but very slowly. Best advice is to not compare yourself to other moms who had normal deliveries. I feel bad about it all the time, but have to remind myself that I got injured and it's going to take time to get the ol bits back to normal! Good luck!

First of all, I like that you chose the pink team to be on :)

Keep us posted on your diet/fitness plans - hopefully we can help you and maybe all work on it together! I have totally stopped going to the gym in the last few months...

You made some really good points there. I looked on the
net to find out more about the issue and found most people will
go along with your views on this web site.
