P90X

So....I have hit some hard times this summer (obviously..). Triathlons have again...been put on hold. As some of you know I had 6 screws put in my shoulder two years ago. I finished (graduated..haha..I even got the t shirt!) from rehab...and then pretty much quit rehabbing all together. I'm not a weight lifter...i just cant do it. I do one set..get bored..and jump on the treadmill. I'm not satisfied unless all limbs are flailing around and sweat is dripping. I'm not satisfied if I'm not moving at high speeds with dangers of running into trees...or pot holes....or animals.. its just not the same moving a dumbell 6 inches at a time. HOWEVER.....due to my lack of muscle building...I am suffering....well my shoulder is. So heres the deal...I realized I messed up by just jumping into the whole triathlon thing without having 1) a good biking base and 2) solid muscles to support my weak shoulder joint. I however.....learn by my mistakes....and am pretty good at correcting them. HERES ze plan: (sorry POM)

P90X! Have u heard of it? seen the infomercials? Looks amazing and have seen some amazing transformations on YouTube. My hubby said he might even join me. So the plan is to do P90X and then run 2 runs during the week and a long run on the weekend. The goal? To get a ripped hot bod and build up all my muscles so I can take the world by surprise. I think the plyometrics will make me a better and faster runner...the yoga will help as well. All in all...this should be something that will help me get strong, lean, and eliminate injuries. I don't have the DVDs yet..but they will be here soon! I will let u know how it goes..and I will post before and after pics.....anyone want to try it? Then I can finish up the ab challenge that I started...haha

I have a pal doing P90 it has toned her up so much especially her abs. She is on the last month now and loves it, but she said super challenging.

Good luck! I've been neglecting weights lately in favor of hardcore long distance, and I actually feel really out of shape. I bet you'll feel great once you start!

I always get sucked into those infomercials. I'd join you in the challenge, but I just have no time to add another exercise program into the mix---Good luck!!!

My buddy did this as a get in shape / lose weight / build muscle type and seems to love it. He has a sweet setup with a nice big lcd on his wall. He said it definitely keeps his interest.

I was wondering whatever happened to that Ab challenge. Haha.

I've always wanted to try P90X but am definitely psyched to see what you think of it. I'm contemplating doing either that or hardcore yoga to work on my flexibility this offseason.

I had to smile, cause i was totally drawn by their infomercial when i was up late one night and couldn't find anything to watch... can't wait to see how it goes! :)

I don't know how you feel about classes at a gym, but ours just started doing this one called Bodypump, which is like lifting... but in a class. I absolutely love it. Might be worth checking out online to see if there are nearby gym's that offer it!

Build a strong foundation and you'll have a fantastic mansion, without it you own a shack!

Sounds like a great plan otherwise check out Crossfit, similar principles only with people not a DVD

i want to hear about P90X!

nice to "meet" you...
building bike base is no joke. i still don't have one! keep at it- looks like you're doing awesome! (and congrats on a marathon! you're my hero- that's my dream, but my bones beg to differ (which is why i started triathlon...too many running miles=injured for sure!)
